The tea is brewed

"Tea for Two" is complete
Today the kids and I went to a local farm to hang out with friends and we took our sketchbooks to draw something that we saw. Both of the older kids settled down for a little sketch time but I had to lend out my sketchbook to cover one that was forgotten in the car so I did not actually get to draw.
This is certainly something we will have to incorporate into a regular practice, I love when my kids draw.

A little greenery

After several days stuck at home fighting Kiddie Crud, we finally got outside to enjoy the nice weather. We enjoyed a trip to a local farm where we walked in the woods, collected leaves, looked at animals and found a cicada.

Feeling better, I also made it back into the studio for a little painting work. Mostly working on the background so that I can better judge color and value relationships.

Busy Summer

I have already had a very busy summer and there is more to come. We went to Indianapolis for the Indy 500 and went to my Parents 50th Wedding Anniversary Party.

Along with travels, we are remodeling a bathroom ourselves and rearranging rooms. With all of these activities it has been hard to find time to sit down and blog. I will fill you in with the hope that each of these pictures really is worth a thousand words because right now I am too tired to think of any more.

 

 

 At my parents farm I took some time to work on this painting of my son.

 I was using my mom's easel  so I had to cover it with plastic so that it would not get paint on it. I think it would be happier with a little paint coverage.  My mother is a wonderful painter but never works on it. The easel only gets used to hold a mirror so that she can cut her own hair.

Trip to the Farm

A last minute decision sent the Kids and I off to the Farm for a week.
They had such a great time running with lots of space and enjoying the wonderful weather.

Everyday they helped grandpa with cores and I had many photo opportunities to catch a yearly update of Grandpa's Barn.

I also asked my grandmother and several of my parent's neighbors to pose for photos for future portraits. I am very excited to get prints and decide on poses to paint. I feel like I have been waiting for pictures to work on for some time. The only painting I have been doing is on a lily which I started about three weeks ago.

Hopefully some new paintings will be underway soon and I will have lots of photos to share.
